Eric Rivière wanders forests and ravines in search of native or endemic plant species, or their enemies, alien species. His is a research assistant at the Cirad, specializing on forest ecosystems. He is in permanent contact with the National Forestry Office (ONF) and the National Park. For several years, he worked with researcher Jean-Michel Sarrailh on the germination ecology of species in Reunion. This research now allows nurseries to produce seedlings of native shrubs. These plants were used to "vegetate" the Route des Tamarins and more recently, to restore the semi-dry forest of Réunion as part of the Life + project, coordinated by the National Park.
